Washroom Sector

Bankside Western Yards Washroom.

Who: Native Land via Modular Interiors.

Where: Southwark St, Southbank, London.

What: High-end Washroom.

We’ve previously worked with Modular Interiors on a range of exciting projects, notably one of our larger projects was working on the washroom transformation for a brand-new development area in London, Bankside Yards. Based on Southbank near Blackfriars and opposite the Tate Modern, the development is the UK’s first fossil fuel free, major multiple development space, home to shops, restaurants, residential and commercial buildings. The high-end washroom transformation saw us use HI-MACS ‘Lunar Sand’ material to fabricate the vanity units which featured bespoke single user sloping basins, bin chutes and tissue dispensers. We had long discussions with the architect for this element of the Bankside Yars project, to ensure his vision of crisp, sharp, square corners and edges was executed as per his designs.  The vanity units also sported a 300mm high splashback to support sensory taps and soap dispensers, ideal for post pandemic living. Each of the vanity units features a removable waste, which allows for quick and easy access should a blockage occur. Usually with this type of vanity trough, the waste would be partially hidden, under the 3mm gap at the back of the slope to allow water to drain away, however access to this area can be particularly tricky and it can be difficult to remove any blockages. The unique, removable wastes a far easier and were a great asset to each of the units.

Why Solid Surface:

Every inch of this washroom has been thoroughly thought through to ensure that the spreading of harmful germs and bacteria is kept to a minimum. Hygiene and cleanliness have been at the forefront of both new and old washroom developments in the post pandemic world. From sensory taps and soap dispensers to limit what we touch within a washroom, to the material used which we place our phones and bags on while washing our hands. It all plays a significant role in ensuring these environments are as clean and hygienic as they possibly can be. HI-MACS solid surface is globally certified resistant to virus’, germs, bacteria, dirt, mould and more. The smooth, seamless surface ensures that only the highest quality of hygiene standards is met, proving that this is the perfect product for this environment.
