IQ Shoreditch Studio Apartment Kitchens.

IQ Shoreditch is a student accommodation development project that MSF worked on between the summer of 2018, and completion in the spring of 2021. There were four phases in total and over the duration of the project with MSF fabricating over 700 units in LG HI-MACS Alpine White. For this project we worked from drawings rather than templating the studio kitchens, we then cut each of the units to size using the CNC machine and completed the works with a factory-fitted sink, drainer grooves and a domino hob cut out. We also featured a 50mm scribe at the wall junction made for simple and fast installation on site.
Why solid surface:
Living a fast and full lifestyle at university means for a lot of students daily cleaning of their kitchen worktops probably isn’t at the top of their priority list. Solid surface does not demand much attention when it comes to cleaning, a quick wipe down with warm soapy water regularly the surface will look brand new and because it’s non-porous there’s no need to worry about potential stains from high pigment-coloured food or drink. HI-MACS is a resilient and durable material, ideal for high-traffic areas such as a communal kitchen, which over the years will be used by many different people. Longevity & performance is key in vast student accommodation projects, with repairs and repolishes being quick and easy with a solid surface, the countertops will look timeless for years to come.
